Be brilliant, play cunning, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Dice and dice games goes back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Current craps evolved from the ancient Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the ancestry of the game, but Hazard is said to have been invented by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard through a blockade on the fortification Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was derived from the castle’s name.

Early French settlers brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French relocated down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they at a later time became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns altered the name to craps, which is gotten from the term for the bad luck toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi scows and all over the nation. Most acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn created the modern craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he invented the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
