Be cunning, play brilliant, and pickup craps the ideal way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about a century old. Current craps formed from the old English game referred to as Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the origin of the game, however Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s soldiers enjoyed Hazard amid a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was acquired from the fortress’s name.

Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when exiled by the English, the French relocated down south and settled in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they left Acadia, they brought their preferred game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which is derived from the term for the losing toss of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi riverboats and throughout the nation. Many think the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of current craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the current craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. Later, he created the spaces for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
