Be brilliant, play brilliant, and pickup craps the ideal way!
Dice and dice games goes back to the Crusades, but modern craps is only about 100 years old. Current craps evolved from the old Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the beginnings of the game, however Hazard is said to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s theorized that Sir William’s horsemen played Hazard through a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.
Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when driven away by the British, the French moved down south and settled in southern Louisiana where they at a later time became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns streamlined the game and made it fair mathematically. It’s believed that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which is acquired from the term for the bad luck throw of 2 in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi barges and across the country. A few think the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In the early 1900s, Winn developed the current craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he invented the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
