Be brilliant, play clever, and become versed in craps the proper way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about a century old. Current craps formed from the ancient English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for certain the birth of the game, although Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Englishman, Sir William of Tyre, around the twelfth century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s paladins bet on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.

Early French settlers imported the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 18th century, when banished by the English, the French headed south and located sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they brought their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which was derived from the term for the losing throw of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi river boats and all over the country. A few acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the modern craps layout. He added the Do not Pass line so gamblers could wager on the dice to lose. Later, he developed the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
