Be brilliant, play cunning, and master craps the correct way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but current craps is approximately a century old. Current craps developed from the old Anglo game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the origin of the game, although Hazard is said to have been invented by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It is supposed that Sir William’s knights bet on Hazard amid a blockade on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was acquired from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 18th century, when exiled by the English, the French relocated south and discovered safety in the south of Louisiana where they a while later became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns changed the name to craps, which was gotten from the term for the losing toss of 2 in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi scows and throughout the nation. A great many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn assembled the modern craps layout. He created the Do not Pass line so gamblers can bet on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he created the spaces for Place bets and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
