Be smart, play brilliant, and pickup craps the correct way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves goes all the way back to the Crusades, but modern craps is approximately 100 years old. Current craps developed from the 12th Century English game referred to as Hazard. No one absolutely knows the birth of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been created by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It is presumed that Sir William’s paladins wagered on Hazard during a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the citadel’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when expelled by the British, the French moved south and found sanctuary in the south of Louisiana where they eventually became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their favorite game, Hazard, with them. The Cajuns modernized the game and made it mathematically fair. It’s said that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is acquired from the name of the non-winning toss of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game migrated to the Mississippi barges and throughout the nation. A good many acknowledge the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn created the modern craps layout. He added the Don’t Pass line so players could bet on the dice to lose. Afterwords, he designed the spots for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
