Be cunning, play cunning, and pickup craps the proper way!

Dice and dice games goes all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is just about a century old. Modern craps come about from the old Anglo game called Hazard. No one absolutely knows the origin of the game, although Hazard is said to have been invented by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, sometime in the 12th century. It’s presumed that Sir William’s soldiers gambled on Hazard during a blockade on the castle Hazarth in 1125 AD. The title Hazard was gotten from the fortification’s name.

Early French colonizers brought the game Hazard to Canada. In the 1700s, when displaced by the British, the French relocated south and found safety in southern Louisiana where they a while later became known as Cajuns. When they fled Acadia, they took their best-loved game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns changed the title to craps, which is gotten from the name of the losing throw of two in the game of Hazard, recognized as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and across the nation. A few think the dice builder John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In the early 1900s, Winn developed the modern craps setup. He created the Do not Pass line so players could wager on the dice to not win. Afterwords, he invented the spaces for Place wagers and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
