Be brilliant, play clever, and master craps the right way!
Games that use dice and the dice themselves date back to the Crusades, but current craps is just about 100 years old. Current craps formed from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. Nobody absolutely knows the beginnings of the game, but Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the 12th century. It’s supposed that Sir William’s knights bet on Hazard during a siege on the fortress Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.
Early French colonists brought the game Hazard to Nova Scotia. In the 1700s, when expelled by the English, the French moved south and settled in southern Louisiana where they after a while became Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their favorite game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns simplified the game and made it more mathematically fair. It’s believed that the Cajuns adjusted the title to craps, which is acquired from the term for the non-winning toss of snake-eyes in the game of Hazard, referred to as "crabs."
From Louisiana, the game moved to the Mississippi scows and all over the nation. A few acknowledge the dice maker John H. Winn as the father of current craps. In 1907, Winn developed the modern craps layout. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so players can wager on the dice to not win. Later, he established the boxes for Place wagers and added the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
