Be brilliant, play cunning, and pickup craps the right way!

Games that use dice and the dice themselves date all the way back to the Middle Eastern Crusades, but modern craps is approximately one hundred years old. Modern craps come about from the 12th Century English game called Hazard. Nobody knows for sure the origin of the game, however Hazard is believed to have been discovered by the Anglo, Sir William of Tyre, in the twelfth century. It is believed that Sir William’s paladins bet on Hazard through a siege on the citadel Hazarth in 1125 AD. The name Hazard was gotten from the castle’s name.

Early French colonizers imported the game Hazard to Acadia. In the 1700s, when displaced by the English, the French moved south and located safety in the south of Louisiana where they after a while became known as Cajuns. When they departed Acadia, they brought their favored game, Hazard, along. The Cajuns broke down the game and made it more mathematically fair. It is believed that the Cajuns adjusted the name to craps, which was gotten from the name of the bad luck throw of two in the game of Hazard, known as "crabs."

From Louisiana, the game extended to the Mississippi riverboats and throughout the nation. Many consider the dice builder John H. Winn as the creator of modern craps. In 1907, Winn built the current craps setup. He put in place the Don’t Pass line so gamblers can wager on the dice to lose. Later, he developed the boxes for Place bets and put in place the Big 6, Big 8, and Hardways.
