If the pay out for a Do not Pass Odds bet is the same as the amount of the Flat bet, then the Odds wager is bridged. The section of your Odds wager that is equal to the Flat wager is arranged literally beside to the Flat bet. Then, the rest of the Odds wager is laid on top "bridging" them. For example, suppose you place a $5 Do not Pass bet and the hurler rolls a point of eight. Understanding the true odds for the 8 are six to five (i.e., six ways to make a 7, and five ways to make an 8), you then lay $6 in Odds with the hope of acquiring $5. In this example, if you actually win the six dollars Odds bet, you win $5, which exactly equals the amt. you win with your 5 dollar Flat bet. Therefore, since your Flat bet and Odds wager capture the same amt. (five dollars each), you bridge your six dollars Odds wager by putting a 5 dollar chip immediately next to your $5 Flat wager, and then putting the one dollar chip so it bridges the 2 $5 chips.
If the payoff for a Don’t Pass Odds bet doesn’t equal the amt. of the Flat bet, then the Odds wager is heeled. This means you place the bottom chip of your Odds bet chip stack right next to your Flat bet. Then, put all remaining Odds wager chips on top of that individual chip but to the side and angled on that bottom chip (your Odds wager chip stack is tilted because it’s leaning on the first chip).
Befuddled? That’s ok, do not get alarmed. The croupier is always ready to assist if you don’t remember. After a couple of instances, it all makes sense. It will not take long before you are an expert. If you are not sure what to do the initial time you attempt it, simply tell the dealer, "I would like to place some Odds but I don’t know if it should be bridged or heeled." The croupier asks, "How much do you want to place?" Suppose you indicate, "15 dollars to win ten." The dealer will request that you place your chips on the table (croupiers aren’t allowed to collect anything, above all chips, right from a competitor), and then he properly heels or bridges them based on the amt. of your Flat bet. You will quickly get the feel of it. Just do not be hesitant to ask the dealer inquiries. Their job is just to deal, but also to be courteous and help the competitors.
