The background of Craps dates all the way back to a dice game called Hazard, which goes all the way back to Bernard de Mandeville in New Orleans in Early 1800’s. Hazard is thought to be a by-product of Azzahr, which means ‘the die’ a game played by Arabs.
The game developed as it spread out from the Arab regions to Europe and then to the UK. By the early eighteenth century, formal established rules for Hazard had been developed. France adopted the English version of Hazard and is thought to have been brought to the us by early French colonists. In the mid-Eighteenth century, when the English defeated the French in British North America, the French colonizers migrated to Louisiana. Dice were played on river boats, casinos and wharfs and a modernized ‘US’ style of Craps was developed. The game moved west and is a well-known game that is participated in all over the United States and all over the planet.
The name ‘Craps’ is considered to be a French enunciation of the word crabs, which refers to a pair of ‘1s’. There are two basic kinds of Craps that are played-street Craps and casino Craps. Street caps, accurately named since it’s bet on the streets is where a player sets a point and then attempts to roll that point. The wagering is made either for or against the player and someone has to cover the bet for the craps game to carry on.
In bank Craps, which is the popular game, gambled on in casinos, the betting house banks the casino game. The participants compete with the casino-the house covers all of the wagers of all of the gamblers. Craps once was a quite well-liked game but in the past 20 years had split itself and other games, like poker and blackjack became more well-known. However, Craps is observing a come back in recognition once again in net casinos and in real world casinos.
